Gary Cupido, born in Cape Town, South Africa, began his musical experiences in the New Apostolic Church, where he developed a love for music at an
early age with a particular interest in choral singing and conducting.
He sang as a tenor chorister and soloist in various concert and chamber choirs under the direction of Peter Lambert, Music Director of NAC Cape, who also provided training and motoring for Gary’s development as a conductor since the age of 16. His first commission came in 1990 when he was appointed conductor of his local congregation choir. Between 1993 and 2001, he was responsible for music and choral development in certain districts and dioceses in NAC Cape. During this time he directed various choirs and orchestral ensembles for services, concerts and special events.
Gary emigrated to the United Kingdom in 2001 and was appointed conductor of the NAC UK Chamber Choir in 2004 when the choir was established.
Justin Stephenson was born and raised in Australia, singing and playing piano from a very young age. In 2001 Justin graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Music in Brisbane, majoring in Jazz Vocals. Justin works professionally with jazz, funk and soul bands, as well as producing his own compositions, having released two CDs in the past 4 years.
Justin has been leading choirs in the New Apostolic Church for nearly 15 years, and was co-district choir leader in Brisbane before relocating in 2006. Since 2007, he has been the music coordinator in our London Central congregation, UK South District, and an integral part of the NAC UK Chamber Choir leadership team.
